Critical
Question: 1. Is this story
fair? Why / why not?
Title:
The Lying GameAuthor: Sara Shepard
I am continuing to read The Lying Game by Sara Shepard. The main character Emma Paxton is still at her foster home being not appreciated. Her brother Travis is accusing her of posting a video that was disrupting and stealing money from her foster mom. Her mom doesn’t believe Emma and is kicking her out of her home.
After dealing with all her family problems Emma finds out that she has a
long lost sister. She try’s finding her sister but this is only leading her to
the future of her life. Emma doesn’t know that her sister had died. Her sister
Sutton had died and the only way to know how she died is to re-live her life
again. Since Emma looks exactly like Sutton, her “friends” mistaken her as Sutton
and made her start a new life. All of Sutton’s friends were told to do this
fake life. But Emma doesn’t have a choice. If she doesn’t find out where Sutton
is Emma won’t have any close relatives. Emma only has one friend that she can
talk to other than that Emma is all alone.
I think that this story is not fair. Emma has been living in many foster homes. After her mom has left her, Emma has been sent too many foster homes. Each house doesn’t respect Emma and give her dirty looks. Emma is always on her own and doesn’t have as many friend or relatives to talk to. Emma doesn’t have any rights as other members of the family. Even though Emma isn’t necessarily a full member of the family, she is still an important member. She should be treated with respect and rights as others. Also, Sutton’s friends should explain what had happen to Sutton. Even though Sutton died, Emma should have known that she would start a new life with her new family. But with no say or no choice in life Emma has to go along with all her commands.
i really liked how you answered your question really thoughtfully, even though i didn't read the book it made a lot of sense to me because of your summary, thanks!
ReplyDeleteYour reading response was good because you really answer the question in very detailed way while summarizing the book.I also like how you give examples why you think the book isn't fair.
